Ranger Derby Crafting in the Morning
We are hosting a Division Ranger Derby Crafting for our Springfield Sections in the morning.
We used to do a over night lockin at the church and invite others to join in. We crafted cars all night long and in the middle processes we played games and or taught merits. It was a lot of fun.
The past 7 years or so we have hosted a 2 hour window for outposts to bring their group by one of the churches in Springfield that has a shop and they get a car kit and design ideas and then the cars are cut out and sanded and weighted all ready for paint that they apply at their local Ranger meetings. It works well and we don't have to provide food and the fee is only 5.00 and that is with a kit provided.
We are using the the GPH Boyscout look alike kits with the polished nails but the wheels are different. Makes assembly easier and the cars are faster with less effort. If you work them over it's a toss up on which kit is faster.
Truck is loaded with a extra drill press, hot pot for melting metal, forstner bits, large table belt sander and belts and vac with sandpaper and extra stuff. So from 8:00 am to 3 pm we will be Ranger Derby car crafting.
This year at our Races we are trying a Lego build it at the race class along with the Ranger Derby Cars.

Re: Ranger Derby Crafting in the Morning
I can't remember what the newer car is now vs what the old one was that GPH provided. There was a car with two dowel rods with small holes for nails, and then there was a car with two notches with metal axles. Is it the metal axle cars that are the newer ones?

Re: Ranger Derby Crafting in the Morning
They have solid axles as well as nails. They resemble the scout kits.
