I have just learned the author of the Navigator program had passed on last year.
I remember having lunch with Ray at National RR Council many years ago. He had just been recognized as the official RR data tracking program. I told him congratulations and asked him how do you deal with a program that is always broken? He said what do you mean?

Well I leaned by the time I had the thing figured out and my program tracking it as it should they had changed their program there by making my program broken. We laughed as some changes are easy. Others can take weeks to fix. Yet updates always make books out of date and revisions always make software out of date. The nature of the changelings.

I explained to him how I was tracking stuff but not locking it into a set format of reports and tallies that would soon be broken.

Ray worked hard on Navigator. I am sure God richly awarded him for his countless hours tracking RR merit steps and completed merits. I think some 17 years ago was the last time I saw him and said hi.

I inquired if anyone had picked up the program code and was working on it. (not many folk will do this for free) No one at this time is working on it so I was told a few days ago.

So sorry to hear that. Ray spent many hours tweaking the program so it would conform to the latest program changes (during the previous administration). I used Navigator for years. Crying or Very sad
