The mysteries of heaven
To help RC be more diverse I'm adding an article on unexplained celestial bodies for the Astronomy merit.

Re: The mysteries of heaven
I get excited when I look up into the sky. As Christians in the future we will not be limited to this earth. I think God has some really, really cool places he is still creating for us to explore and wonder about.
Sci fy hasn't even touched the Glories that lay ahead of us. I can't wait.

Re: The mysteries of heaven
While we live in a cursed planet that will one day be made a new. There is some really cool stuff around.
Yet I sincerely believe that the new earth will have stuff so delightful we will squeal with excitement.
Ever had a fruit that was so sweat you just about went nuts eating it. I am pretty sure even the fruits and nuts and berries and food will be delightful!
Lot's of cool things we can't even amagine.

Even under the curse things like tornados, hurricanes, rain, lightning, tsunamis, snow, etc have a quality of beauty to it. Look at snow flakes are all unique. I think the pre-flood earth was a very different and more beautiful place than today.

Re: The mysteries of heaven
The Privileged Planet by Gonzalez and Richards is a fantastic read. To borrow a phrase from the cover, "How our place in the cosmos is designed for discovery." Written by a couple of scientists, I know the first guy was black balled by his university and his peers for straying from Darwinian orthodoxy. If I recall correctly, his case was covered in the documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.

Re: The mysteries of heaven
I own Lee Strobel's Case for a Creator. Its very good to be able to defend our faith with reasonable arguments.
Many Christians tend to dismiss using science to defend faith. They aren't mutually exclusive. God created everything to work with precision which is observed using the scientific method.

Re: The mysteries of heaven
I believe everything taken to it's pure end will lead back to God from mathematics to psychology, if genuine truth is the goal.
As was already said, God created it, so why would it point to anything either than Him when looked at objectively?
I also like Paul E. Little's book "Know Why You Believe".

Re: The mysteries of heaven
Most professional mathematicians laugh at the idea of evolution (although that doesn't automatically put them on the creation side). I believe the numbers state that the probability of evolution happening is 1 in 10 to the 150th power. Sure, there's that one chance. But to give you perspective, the total number of atoms in the universe is estimated to be 10 to the 80th power. So, there really isn't a chance. It's all designed.

Re: The mysteries of heaven
Then you have scientist who increase their odds by believing in a multiverse containing an infinite # of universes. Since biologist Louis Pasteur proved cells must come from other living cells how does the process start without a Living self-existent God? Only other way it can happen it life existed in the "big bang" thus life is a natural part of the universe from the beginning. I've never read of anyone believing life could exist in the compressed point of space all matter purportedly existed in.
Strobel mentions no new info can be naturally added to a cell's DNA to allow future generations to morph into a different species.

Anybody catch NASA's picture of "the hand of God" this past week? Pretty cool-looking.
