Royal Rangers in 2014
2014 is just around the corner.
I was thinking....what do you see for Royal Rangers in 2014?
Big Changes?
Minor changes?
No Changes?
Major decline?
Major Increase?
I popped on to the National RR page & saw this ad for LEAD 2014

Who could have imagined just one year ago the doors God would open before us? We have greater opportunity to influence more boys and young men than ever, more effectively than ever!
It is our charge to steward the moment. That’s what LEAD14 is all about. We are at a pivot point in our ministry and your attendance, prayer, and action is vital.
What do you think?
In anticipation of our gathering, I need you to spring into action! Bring your team. Invite leaders from Assemblies of God churches and from churches of other denominations that are eligible to adopt Royal Rangers.
Thursday through Friday afternoon, LEAD14 will be similar to past years. But Friday night through Saturday noon we will offer the Mentoring Future Men (MFM) Conference. The MFM Conference will allow us to introduce more churches, more mentors, and more boys and young men to Royal Rangers. Our goal is to grow. The lives of future men depend on our courage to act.
LEAD14 will be at an all-new venue—the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre. Same dates, new location, great content, forward purpose. It all happens next March in Dallas, Texas. Please look over the enclosed materials to learn how to reserve your place today.
What do you think?

I just got news that Evangel University is downsizing employees that have worked there for 15 to 30 years.
With this economy and this world system of things. I am not optomistic on anything growing except debt and dispair. Even the AG colleges and Universities are failing. Brethern it's getting scary out there... what was solid and firm is now shifting sand. Best look to the Rock!

Sounds like more of the same rhetoric. Same dance different song.
Perceived reality...vision casting...need I say more.

I just wish they'd finish changing over the rest of the Bible Merits to the new style this year. THAT'S where they need to focus some effort! Stop trying to sell new "product" if you can't even fill the orders on what you've already promised. Those old style orange Bible merits are horrible!

Btw, how many oranges have been released?
Another project would be to cull some of the unneeded silvers and create lesson plans for the rest. We pay the same $ for ER track as we do for DR and AR but do not get the same value.
Hey Philip you're a new guy why not shoot them a qlc and ask for silver reference merit guides and the orange merits. They don't listen to us crazy forum guys.

If he's here to gain "Intelligence", he's barking up the wrong tree.

Good one Claymore. The least likely person would be Mark so I vote he is our mole...
I remember when Claymore joined RC1.0 I wasn't sure about him either. He came on and was in such agreement with most of us, military & police background looked too good to be true. Oh those were the "good ole days" of wondering when the next party-liner was going to attack.
If Chris is Doug's Austin Powers he must be a great actor.

Coming from the guy who has a synopsis of his 201 file in the Magnastrip of his Military I.D. Card.

Re: Royal Rangers in 2014
I am not sure what 2014 will bring for Rangers. I see a couple possibilities.
1 Rangers will continue to promote RR to other denominations & do nothing with AG Rangers in 2014. They will keep on talking as if RR 2.0 is going great, despite the evidence that its not working. (AG charter #s tanking & Commanders leaving the ministry)
2 Rangers will accept the evidence that this is not working & make a change to a new direction
Honestly I suspect that option 1 is what they will do. Rangers in US AG churches appears to be contracting at an alarming rate, yet all we hear from the National office is "happy talk" about how great things are going to be while at the same time no longer releasing stats that would show how great or bad it really is. There may be some districts that are doing well. but the ones I can see all show a major drop in charters. Take a look at this: The Regional dashboard my home region put up in 2012. (its still there-look at the bottom of the page http://glroyalrangers.org/index.html

Not a word. GRIN!
I would love to hear a promise to return to what worked. That would give many of us a rally. Don't expect it..

Re: Royal Rangers in 2014
Well. I will admidt as far as patch sales go. The Bible merit change was a good way to get more awards on the records.
Now mind you it matters not what we teach them...it just matters that we teach them. I tried to explain this to my Sr. Commander and he shook his head.. I said in theory we could teach the same lesson each week and make the merit and record the award.
I am not saying this is all bad. It took the pressure off to teach stuff that has holkum in it. As long as we are teaching Bible it is good. I know they want at least 5 lessons from the Bible merits... any from any lesson. I like it better.
That is a good one from last year. So there is some good that comes out of it.

Re: Royal Rangers in 2014
I have come to use some of the flexibility of "alternative bible that is lessons". But that is more from cases of Thanksgiving we have a lesson on the pilgrims and we all know how attendance is then. Similar situation using Orange to count as Brown vice versa to make lessons easier to teach.
for AR/DR

Re: Royal Rangers in 2014
I never thought that we could use oranges as one of the 2 alternative lessons toward the brown merit or vice versa. JR Whinery said I could use spirit challenges as the two alternatives and they still count toward sc patches in ER.
