Just a plain old chainsaw eye balling it. It worked pretty well. Just stand the log up on end. screw 2 leg braces to it and cut it down the middle with a chainsaw. It will dull a chainsaw blade after about 3 cuts as iti's ripping not crosscutting. You can sharpen the blade in about 5 minutes on the saw with a jig.
Wider boards can be used but it's a good idea to keep your boards down to 4 or 5 inches to keep the warp down. With the big bandsaw we can make wider boards but they really need to be cut down to smaller widths to keep the warping from happening. I did all these boards on a 12" bandsaw with a 1 hp motor and a 3 teeth skip tooth resaw blade. Well the boys did a bunch of them... I did a bunch as well to keep things moving along.
I will most likely straight line the rest of the boards and glue them up into wider boards for future projects.
