What About “Scouting”
Every once in a while, someone needs to “Poke the Wolverine”, just to stir up some excitement, so here we go……
About 8 or 9 years ago, we had a member who was a leader in the Boy Scouts. He used to get highly offended, when we referred to Royal Rangers as “Christian Boy Scouts”, exclaiming, “The Boy Scouts ARE Christian….”.
As I recall, the slogan of this forum was “A place to talk about Royal Rangers”.. He stomped his feet and pouted, until Chris added, “and Scouting”.
I think that we all knew that “Royal Rangers” was understood to include the principles of “Scouting”, and so it was kind of like being redundant, all over again.
Now, I’m not trying to make this a personal “dig”, as I don’t even really remember the guy’s handle, but I have seen similar things at churches that I’ve attended: seen someone come into the Church, scream and stomp their feet for the church to change its policies to accommodate them, and then, 3 to 5 years later, they are gone.
Now, I will admit that I am an “old dog” around here, but do you folks recall what I am talking about, and have you personally seen similar actions at your own church?
(And if the “subject” of this conversation sees this and wants to Flame me, I can handle it. I’ve got callouses. Heck, I haven’t had a bullet fly past my coconut in nearly 40 years, and this place isn’t much scarier than being shot at.)

Re: What About “Scouting”
Perhaps that guy is no longer affiliated with Boy Scouts...Scouts USA...what's their official name these days? It seems to me that anyone who claims to be a Christian should disassociate themselves from that organization. Why? Once all the sexual abuse by a large number of scoutmasters was exposed, you'd think that they would have returned to their roots and cleaned up their act. But, no. They just side-stepped into another form of abuse, encouraging kids to go down the LGBTQ, etc dark road.
To get to your question....
Been there, experienced that in a related way. If you want details, go through the Gold Dust and Feathers thread. We had a few leaders/pastors who covertly, with (self-admitted) spiritual superiority, schemed to go down a dingy theological alley. They pushed and pushed, ignoring some of the AG 16 Fundamentals. And the senior pastor gave in, becoming like them. After they almost destroyed our church, they left. At least one of them refused to learn a lesson, and ended up shutting down another church.
At best, giving in leads to one giving up. At worst, it makes other people give up on the Church.

Yes we have had people like that in our church. About 15 years ago we had a couple who didn't like something & demanded a change of course. nobody else backed thier play.
They even went to the church board & demanded that they change course or they would withhold thier tithes.
The board politely showed them where the door was & suggested they go through it. They did & haven't been back.
