Boy Scouts *and* Royal Rangers
If for some reason a boy wanted to join both Boy Scouts and Royal Rangers, could he? Or are they somehow mutually exclusive?

Re: Boy Scouts *and* Royal Rangers
You can join both! Many of the scout & Ranger merits are very similar, so you could get Ranger credit for Scout Merits earned & vice versa
One of our members has a son who was in both.

Good to hear! I do see the similarities and differences. And everything I tried to search online seemed to focus on people leaving Boy Scouts to go to Royal Rangers. It made me curious. I don't know enough about either organization to really know which is "better". I wonder if it was overwhelming or confusing or anything....

Re: Boy Scouts *and* Royal Rangers
Johnnie Barnes, the founder of Royal Rangers was a Scoutmaster, before becoming a Minister. He drew a lot from scouting.

Re: Boy Scouts *and* Royal Rangers
Some leaving scouts is due to May's change in their member admission policy.

Re: Boy Scouts *and* Royal Rangers
I saw that. I feel for some of the boys. I mean, I get why individuals might choose not to join, or even to leave. But I feel for the boys who were kinda left stranded because they no longer have a sponsor. They could be losing something very important in their lives and possibly for reasons that have nothing to do with them at all. I hope and pray that the boys that find themselves in that situation find a new sponsor, or are able to find an alternative - as a group!

Re: Boy Scouts *and* Royal Rangers
I have one boy who is also in Scouts. I offered to give him merit credit for tasks that he has performed in Scouts and to provide verification of skills that he has done in Rangers for his Scout Advancement.
So far, he hasn't taken me up on it. I am under the impression that he is kind-of advancing by the "cook book" method. Everyone completes the tasks and gets the merit together.

Same boat with my boys. I ask for a copy of writing required or (preferably) a demonstration of skills and I sign off. Not taken up, though when one transferred in he did bring in his Cub Scout pins so he did loose any ground

I found the official transition for boy scouts to Rangers at this link. Select the bottom choice.

Thank you.... I did see that before, which is why I was wondering if they were mutually exclusive... Or if a boy could be in both if he wanted to be...

Good to see you onboard Eddie. I'm assuming you're the same Eddie from my patrol at NRMC?

That is correct. Is it as hot there as it is here?
