Ranger Comeback?
You might remember an earlier post where I said deacons rued the day they let the "new guy" kill off Rangers and Missionettes. Well, we have a newer guy as children's pastor now, and he has taken his puppet ministry to Pow Wows in the past.
It's hard to keep a good program down. One of my former commanders has been lobbying this pastor to bring RR/M back to our church. If it starts to get traction, I'll have to see what my role might be. Not really into weekly teaching anymore, but Commander Emeritus (RR Council) has a nice ring to it.

Growing up we'd refer to our councilman as Cmdr.

As it turns out, the lobbying ex-Cdr works on Wed nights. Not to say Rangers couldn't be on a different day, though.

Re: Ranger Comeback?
I wish we would have a Ranger comeback at our church, but that seems unlikely
at least for a while.

Kind of crummy reason to disband it was the parents ministering to their own kids. Imagine that.

Re: Ranger Comeback?
Something that I have been meaning to do is to have a booth at one of the local festivals promoting our Ranger Post; being in uniform, having a couple of kids in uniform, with a Picture-Board and handing out R/R Pamphlets.
The big local Fest here is "Founder's Day" in the City Park (City is only Population 3,200). Unfortunately, since I am not indigenous to this region, it keeps slipping past me.

Re: Ranger Comeback?
Had a conversation with the new children's pastor last night. He asked what kind of projects generally hold kids' interest over a few weeks. I ripped off a bunch and ended with, "You know, the things Royal Rangers did for years." He grinned.
