Back to Sea
Arrr, mateys! I told you there were a reason I was eatin' to keep the scurvy away.
I just bought a 2003 West Wight Potter 15. That's a "pocket" sailboat. This season is pretty shot, so I'll be studying and practicing with the rigging and sheets until next sailing season. Got a lot to learn, but the curve is less than the average landlubber's.

Good for you!! I had to Google it to see what it looked like. Looks like it would be a blast. I've NEVER been on a sailboat, but I admit that the thought of it is intriguing! Are you planning to stay in fresh water?

Re: Back to Sea
Although I'd love to sail it off Seattle, that's too far to pull a boat. Plenty of lakes around here to dip in. The previous owner garaged it for the last 8 years, so it looks like new.

Re: Back to Sea
Please be advised that, as per DOD and U.S. Navy Policy, prior to embarking on any Naval Vessel, you must have completed mandatory training in EEOC, Race Relations, Trans-Gender in the Military, Islamophobia Awareness, and White Privilege in America. Such training shall be administered by an authorized Commissioned Officer, Petty Officer, or DOD Civilian, and that individual must meet the qualifications outlined in the latest DOD Directive Circular (available through your EEOC Officer).
Also, all records must be maintained and updated quarterly.
THEN, you can sail your vessel.
It doesn't matter, if you know anything about Seamanship .....as demonstrated in the rash of recent collisions in the Pacific Region.

Re: Back to Sea
I thought Mattis ordered an audit of all military training and cut out anything not directly associated with the task of winning wars. Did anyone hear if that happened?

I sail at night, under darken ship conditions, no navigation lights, and maintain strict radio silence.

That's just looking for trouble.
Somewhere out there, is a Liberian Registered Tanker with your name on the hull.

Don't forget Claymore, a professor, and a movie star. You will need company on the island.

Actually, my name is etched onto one of the copper plates that's currently on the hull of the USS Constitution. Makes me tear-up whenever I think about it.
