Heading out to Sams Throne Arkansas today with 25 folks Rappelling
Heading out to Sam's Throne in Arkansas with 25 in our group. Camping over night and then teaching the Green Rappelling merit and then we go Rappelling.
Went a week ago Tuesday night to the Climbing gym to get them belay certified and some hands on experience on the ropes and harness and climbing and knots.
It's fun. Lots of things to consider. With this group of 25 it's well over 200 that we have seen go down this crag.
It's a pretty place. A mini Colorado.
Report and pictures when I get back.

Went rappelling years ago in Montana. I really enjoyed it. The boys who went to Pow Wow got a chance to try it on the tower and liked it. Looking forward to the pictures.

Didn't stop by to see me?! Since our state's perennial Pow Wow location doesn't have a tower, you must have come here when YOU were a boy.

Good report. I guess I'll need to get all of us commanders through a rapelling school so we can do this with our boys. What are the cost for ropes, harnesses, etc.?

Ropes run 150.00 to 200.00
Locking Caribeaners about 12.00 each
Harness about 40 to 60 each.
Ask around. Gear stores and the web may locate you folk that have this gear and will even go out and teach your group for free. You maybe able to rent gear and the time in a climbing gym for less and not have to deal with the gear getting old.
