Post by Phillip Gross December 1st 2016, 10:39 pm

New month, new thread...

Still haven't even gotten a Christmas tree yet, which is odd for us because we usually get it either Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving. Been so busy with multiple projects in every arena of life that we just haven't done it yet.

Anyone have any good plans for Christmas this year?

My Christmas break will probably be spent helping my brother move into his new home (about 20 miles from here). Culture shock going from AZ to MT.

I spent about an hour in Salt Lake airport between flights, but never stepped outside. I did however spend two weeks up around Bigfork MT. Went up to Lake McDonald and some other areas. Beautiful area up there! Always wanted to go back one day...

Ramping up for a change in the weather......Calling for snow next week, 6-9 inches. Too bad it won't stick around long enough to enjoy it.

No major plans for Christmas here. Work gets in the way of enjoying life

As usual Walmart is closed Christmas day which this year is a Sun so its my day off anyway. We're not making budget so their cutting our hours down by 5 hrs each week. I decided to put in for 40 hrs of PTO on top of my worked hours.

Rainy here but not too cold. The colder air is coming later this week and it's supposed to do down into the 20's. Time to winterize he RV so the overnight lows don't cause any pipes to break. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, right??? Laughing

Winter has come early...Woke up on Monday to find 5 cm of the white stuff had been dropped all over the ground.  Temperatures have been below freezing all week long.  They are calling for more white stuff starting Thursday night and into the weekend and then again next week.  Possible white Christmas for the first time in 15 years.

So much for living in the "tropics".

It was a beautiful scene while i was driving to work on Monday.  Top of a hill, you can see the mountains of the mainland in the distance all white and lit up with a clear blue sky, the ocean and then the nice clean snow everywhere else. Wish I had been able to take a picture of it.

Oh, Bless your Heart.

I was Assistant Manager of a Sentry Supermarket in Wisconsin, in-between tours in the Army and after College.

I eventually said, "The heck with that", and reinlisted in the Paratroops. At least there, we got off most week-ends.

For us old timers, John Glenn was much more than a name in a science book. We watched his exploits in real time, cheering as he orbited the earth and then splashed down. A national hero, space travel was so dangerous that he wasn't allowed to return to space, lest we chance losing him. It was pretty cool that he later made a space shuttle mission as a senior citizen.

NASA needs the green light to go for Mars. We need to rekindle the "right stuff" and get Americans moving in a positive direction. Let's bring the Canadians along, too. They made the robotic arm for the space shuttles. Give them a bigger piece this time.

snow <----- that's me this morning. Merry Christmas December Thread Dscn1410

Not a snow plow in sight and it's still coming down. It's scary how people drive around here when this happens. I'm used to driving in snow cause I grew up out east and had a driver's test 2 days after a blizzard in Ontario. These conditions, while not extreme compared to what some of you guys deal with, take my 7 minute commute to work and turn it into 30 mins.

Only in the summer.

Still snowing....we have over a foot on the ground. Still waiting for a snow plow to grace my street. We live on a bus route and after the main roads are all done they are supposed to do the bus routes. Had to take a kid to a birthday party in an upscale area. Their street is plowed, not a bus route. hmmm

Looks like my house too!

In one way Glenn was a "hero" but he was also pro gun control and voted that way too.

As for Mars and Beyond I used to be into that a lot as a kid but I can't see how it benefits us to go to another planet where God didn't put us.

Just the development and products that come out of thinking outside the planet have given us many inventions we have today.

I don't think God would have put all that out there if He wasn't planning on us exploring it.

I like being part of the race to Mars. I think it's good stuff we should do.
