CAMP EAGLE ROCK

Eagle Rock Retreat Center (ERRC) is looking for temporary help this summer and fall. We’re calling on our Royal Rangers contacts to help us find applicants! Do you have friends or know college students who would like to earn extra income and are living in the southwest Missouri area?

The event schedule for the summer is very heavy, and we don’t have enough staff to provide the level of customer satisfaction we would like to. Therefore, ERRC is creating a pool of employees we can call on to assist with kitchen, janitorial, and other tasks as needed when groups rent the center for events.

The ERRC is located 75 miles southwest of Springfield near Cassville, MO. Overnight lodging is provided for employees who do not live close enough to commute.

Applicants should be at least 18 years of age, have the ability to do heavy lifting, and must meet our AG employment standards. The minimum rate of pay is $8.25/hour. Experience in a commercial kitchen is helpful but not required. For additional information, contact Heather Scranton in Human Resources at hscranton@ag.org or extension 1083. An application can also be found online at www.jobopenings.ag.org.

CATALOG

The new Royal Rangers catalog will mail this week. You will notice that it still contains all of the products available for Royal Rangers. Although the length of the catalog is shorter, it has only been reorganized to show product in one area instead of multiple areas.

LEADER MANUAL

In June 2013, the latest version of the Royal Rangers Leader Manual was released. I’ve attached a photo of the cover so that you can be sure you have the latest version. This one does contain the newest information on the boys’ advancement system, matching the new boys’ handbooks. Also, the TRaCclub invitation code for the 2-year, free membership to the Leader track has moved to the inside front cover.

ADULT TRAINING

There are several national training events in districts/regions throughout the country. We want all of the camps to go but need the districts/regions to promote the events that are in their area. You have the advantage of proximity and relationship to encourage the leaders in your area to attend the training. If you haven’t attended, then you should sign up. It becomes difficult to promote something with vigor that you have not experienced.

JUNIOR TRAINING

With the Junior Training camps in process of revision, there are new item numbers for junior training items. Attached is a list of items along with their numbers you will need to place your orders through GPH. If you can’t use your district account, please forward the order confirmation to JR Whinery so he can get your order approved through the system. If you have any questions, please contact JR Whinery at jwhinery@ag.org.

District Special Approval Items

NSSP AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The NSSP Ambassador Program is a great opportunity for the young men in your district. We will be sending this same information to all the chartered leaders in your district tomorrow. To get the application, go to http://agchurches.org/Sitefiles/Default/RSS/royalrangers.ag.org/NSSP/NSSP%20Ambassador%20App.pdf.

This free 12-month adventure offers unparalleled opportunities for one (1) qualified Royal Ranger (16-18 years old) to experience a “chance of a lifetime” program that will include attending amazing events, meeting national shooting sports celebrities, radio and television personalities, traveling, experiencing the camaraderie of fellow ambassadors, and developing career opportunities, which culminates in the receipt of a valuable college scholarship. Past ambassadors have also received a number of significant and in some cases, expensive shooting sports products and services as an added benefit of their ambassador experience.

Application deadline: August 1, 2013

WINS

Peninsular Florida

Rev. Alton Garrison presented the devotions each morning at LEAD2013. He received this email from the wife of one of the attendees.

“Hello, you were at the RR LEAD Conference in Dallas this past March. You spoke on the Holy Spirit and my husband, Wayne Elliott (FB) was filled that morning with the Holy Spirit. He mentioned to you he was a PK…you guys took a photo together with your phone. Should you still have that…..would you please send my way? If not, that is ok. That was a prayer of mine for 28 years….and it was answered while in Dallas. God’s up to great things! Thanks.”

Pennsylvania-Delaware

This will be a short article in a future edition of the Pentecostal Evangel.

On February 24, 2013, Steven Edwards (outpost 48 in Newark, DE) received his Gold Medal of Achievement (GMA). Steven’s family had been waiting for this moment for a long time because it was a challenging journey. When Steven was two years old he was diagnosed with autism. His speech was so severely delayed at age three that the specialist at the A.I. Dupont Children’s Hospital only gave him a 20% chance of ever talking and classified him as “severely handicapped but teachable.”

Through prayer and hard work, Steven has surpassed the limitations that others have placed on him. He graduated from high school with honors and recently applied to the University of Delaware to study animal science and art. Earning the GMA was a goal that his father and long-time Royal Rangers leader, Gordon Edwards, encouraged him to pursue. Through the encouragement and support of the leaders at Praise Assembly and later at Parkview Assembly, Steven accomplished his goal.

Steven and his family are thankful that the Royal Rangers leaders they encountered knew God has a plan and purpose for every boy who enters a Royal Rangers classroom. They got to know Steven and his strengths and used those to propel him through the advancement system. They could have focused on his weaknesses, but they remember that God created each boy in His image and He wants His creation to praise and grow in Him.

The redundant printing of same items in multiple areas of the catalog was overkill in my opinion. They were missing Silver Budget and Finance in the listing too. I wonder if the dress uniform sku's will be included. GPH offers it via pdf on nat'l site but not printed or included online catalogs.

Our training is getting dismal up here in Great Lakes region.

I noticed the cover doesn't have anyone in uniforms. Not even RR tees.

I missed this the first time through.
Seems like he is blaming the Regions & Districts for camps not going. Camps seem to be being canceled left & right this year.

I get 4-5 emails from different staffers + an article in the District newsletter for every training they have in Michigan.

I don't think it's lack of promotion that is causing camps to fail. I think it's lack of interest.

I would be having a problem coming up with Camps if all I had to sell was Hand Sanitzer and Translated Rick Warren books.

The old days we lived the life. Showed the boys and leaders Camping - Scouting methods and built relationships and were good at things. It had things to learn and teach and it was built around God's handy work not so much man's. While a life long servant leader is ONE WHOOPER OF A IDEA. Sad to say Bible says it won't happen. So .... can we expect success at it when the Bible says it won't happen?

WE can hype it, speak it as it is true but in the end it will be exactly as God's Word says it will be.

We must get back to Looking to God for the increase.

I'm sure low charters definitely make it a harder sell too. Add a price hike to NRMC compared to NTC, one less day, be given a whopping (insert sarcasm) 50 min to try each focus activity, and bring your own base camp tent makes it too much moolah for too lil return. I'm betting NEEC will cost more than RKTC too.

When comparing charter numbers, are you including COG and IPH numbers too? Wasn't there a time when all outposts were only AG outposts whereas now there are a couple others to split the numbers?

Yes, you are correct I am only going by the A/G outpost locator and what my DC said that our numbers were very low this year. I have no clue how CoG or IPHC is doing. A/G is tanking since we are driving the RR2.0 bus. IPHC while dependent on A/G for materials and curriculum may not be pushing the anti military, anti scouting, and Rick Warren empowerment.

I like what a preacher said on church.tv that its not about, our church, my goodness because we're not good, or what, "empowers me". CoG bought into it when it the slogan was, "bringing Rangers to the ipod generation". Now its RR2.0 but really no different OS but different name. A lot of A/G churches aren't buying it.

With Claymore and Roadkill representing those denoms they may have intel on how Royal Rangers is doing there.

There are a lot of churches that are not chartering. They just use some of the materials. Many are not using the current program. Just bits and pieces of it.

I think are Charters were up this year but down in numbers.
Pow Wow was fun but at 640 it was not close to some of the 800 plus years.

National just needs to get their focus back on Christ and leave the other gospel behind and repent from it and go all out in faith in Christ. Trusting God for the increase not some scheme of man.

Our AG denomination is in trouble as they have fallen for much of the same Rick Warren gospel. Trusting modern day pscy stuff.

A what is obviously wrong thing is totally missed. They just can't see it. God will indeed show them. I just want to be on God's side of it and not a scheme of man side. Fools we were and often return to our own vomit when our Carnality is in control.

I do not have any direct link to Church of God HQ, but I think that it was a matter of comparing what they currently had (Pioneers for Christ) and the long, rich history of Royal Rangers.

I had convinced our Pastor to go with Royal Rangers, back when they had REAL books for the boys to use. The manual that I saw for Pioneers for Christ looked like a poor quality photocopy. Also, I did not see the flexability & adventure training that R/R offered.

I went to a Church of God State Leadership Meeting about 18 months ago, and they had module led by a district representative from Royal Rangers. He did a good job of portraying the Program, and the potential Commanders appeared to be enthusiastic.

I do NOT vent any of my frustrations outside of the core leaders (us) who have experienced the same difficulties. If the new leaders encounter problems with the Organization, I will let them find that out for themselves.
