Re: Some of the best movies and television series of the 1980's
Saw 7 movies on that list.
I've never worried as much about the overall rating of a film as much as WHY it got it's rating. I don't watch perverted movies, or senseless violence and gore. I don't like horror movies because IMO they either lean towards, or are straight up demonic/diabolical. I don't mind "necessary" violence in films where it depicts true goodness fighting evil. My boys have seen Saving Private Ryan and the Band of Brothers series (be careful in episode 7 or 8. There's a scene with a French girl...).
Language doesn't 'offend' me unless it's pointless as in some movies. Again, in certain circumstances harsh language isn't outside the realm of understanding. If you're getting shelled by the Germans, a few four letters might fly.

When we are looking for a movie to watch, we will consult with Dove.org or pluggedin.com.
Great tool to know what you could be watching and what you don't want to watch.

Band of Brothers was fantastic. In watching the scene of them flying in for the D-Day Invasion, I felt that I didn't deserve to wear the same Paratrooper Wings as those guys.

I haven't seen Band of Brothers. I like Private Ryan though and Pearl Harbor.

Did you really just mention Pearl Harbor in a sentence along with Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers??? Why not throw Winny the Pooh in there too?

My father was out before he married my mom so Idk if that qualifies me as a Navy Brat. Give'm credit WWII was last time they kicked butt.
Oh, and btw the two main characters are Army Air Corps Pilots not Navy Aviators!

"Siol Na Fear Fearail!" yelled Winnie, as he threw his last grenade at the advancing Hun.

I hear Molon Labe is etched on each of Winnie's honeypots.
