Re: Happy New Year!!! January Thread
That's what I was thinking. Is it really a bad move to throw away a throw away?

Re: Happy New Year!!! January Thread
A couple of years ago, I came to the conclusion that you had to spend $100 to get a good hotel room that you didn't have to worry about. So this weekend my wife and I were at a Holiday Inn Express. The hotel and the room were great. Breakfast, on the other hand, wasn't. Cold and bland. And worse? Having to sit in a dining area with lots of people who had clearly just gotten out of bed. Hadn't combed their hair yet and were still wearing their sleeping clothes. I'm telling ya, it looked like WalMart at 2 am!

Re: Happy New Year!!! January Thread
I had mentioned in another thread that I had been out sick for a week. I was admitted into the Hospital on Wednesday of 2 weeks ago.
So, last Wednesday, I asked the boys what they did on the previous week. I said, "Did someone else take our class, or did you go into the Sanctuary with the Main Wednesday Group?".
One of the (older) boys said, "I went down the hallway to the Youth Group. BORING!. I about fell asleep."
Well, I guess that I was flattered. Maybe they do enjoy our class.

We started our first Sun night meeting went well. Began camping merit in prep for a winter camp in Feb. It got there attention when I asked what is an EMP. Oldest one explained it well. I said its a real possibility you may need these skill to save your life and family if you wake up and nothing works anymore. It got their attention.

You can find girls on any street corner.
But you can find Pugil Sticks, Model Rockets, Tomahawks, and Match Air Rifles only in the Ranger Room!

As you know from being a cop those street corner girls can be a bit pricey for boys if you get my drift.

No actually I don't see any of them at all in Cle. Rider commented to another rider about Prospect Ave was full of them in the '90s and prior but after the Internet came they used Craigslist and other social sites to escape the dangerous streets after dark.

I've actually got a lot to get done tomorrow, but if it actually does snow, I'll take a "forced" day off and hang with the kids.

As long as there's an available slot, I'll be attending another city's Citizen (Police) Academy this spring. We're working towards developing our own in my city, so I'll be taking lots of notes. Ten straight Wed evenings at 3 hours a pop. Fortunately, I can stay at my son's home afterwards, instead of hitting the dark roads.

No!... Unfortunately all we got today was freezing rain. It was good though, because I was able to get out to a job that I really needed to get some things done on before Monday.Claymore wrote:Hey Philip.............

Some graduates end up joining the volunteer force, but it's not required. The PD up north has a great relationship with print and electronic media, because many of the reporters have gone through it. Where I'm at, I've "busted" abandoned cars for a year. Feels good when a patrol car pulls up and the officer thanks me. They get to concentrate on real crime. Also, I'm just now starting to do research on getting law enforcement grants. As far as I can tell, no one's tried that here. Why not go after the free money out there?

Re: Happy New Year!!! January Thread
This week us Walmart associates found out the low down on what the company plans this coming March and April. They are transitioning from giving us vacation, personal, sick, and holiday pay to just PTO which is paid time off. Norm has been each associate gets an eval month before their anniversary now all evals are done in April with a percentage raise in Feb. No longer are raises tied to evals for hourly non supervisory associates. They are discontinueing sun Premium for employees hired prior to Jan 1, 2011. I would get a $1 premium per hour for sun hours. Other old timers before me would get time and half. As a gesture all my premium pay in 2015 will be dumpee onto my Mar 5 check Long with 208 hours of PTO. PTO includes vacation and holiday pay. Accrued personal and sick pay under old policy will be held in reserve if you exhaust all PTO hrs. For my years in Walmart I will accrue 1 hr PTO for every 10 hrs I of worked hrs and PTO Hrs. If you quit all PTO is dumped onto your final check. It will accrue weekly and can be used immediately. Based pay for all will be at least $10 hr and $12.50 to $15 hr for supervisors and hrly support mgrs. Walmart is really changing their tune after all these years. Big risk is if a lot of people quit Mar 5 they will get all PTO hrs on one check. For me it would be 80 worked hours plus 208 PTO hrs plus $92 for sun premium, and our bonus of $360. Store mgr said if one is smart and decided to quit they take all PTO hrs starting Mar and come back in April and quit having accrued PTO during the time they were off on PTO! I'm kind of like am I in alternate reality or what lol.
I was like mmm so tempting to apply at Cabela's and start after Mar 5 and cash out all PTO hrs. If I didn't used any PTO till Jan 31 I'd have my 208 lump sum now plus the accrued 176 hrs for total of 384 PTO hrs. Feb 1, 2017 would be a huge payout if I left then.

The store manager dropping a hint sounds a bit off. Make sure you check the fine print. Sometimes, "too good to be true" doesn't pan out the way you expected.

Kudos to Canada's Trudeau. At a big, international elite meeting, Leonardo DiCrapprio was dumping on fossil fuels. Trudeau used relatively strong language telling him to tone down the rhetoric, saying that many Canadians were struggling economically due to the mad rush to green energy.

I don't take it personally as he said it every meeting I have heard of him conducting. As well its in the PTO guide they mailed out and on the WM1 app associates use on our phones. All materials point to other cash out options. When Feb 2017 rolls around up to 80 hrs will rollover to next PTO year and excess above 80 hrs will cash out automatically. Papers also state more cashout options would be a available later 2017. Last few years I've cashed out 10 days of my 15 days vacation and its dumped on my check. He even said if one is smart they take all PTO hours and come back and quit later so you would acrue PTO while on PTO. Its all legit and checks out. He joked to if every took their PTO and ran the company would have a $2 billion cash out in March.

More Canadian are struggling because of the high cost of so many things. Food, gas, internet and phone all cost WAY more up here then you guys pay. With oil being so cheap per barrel the savings are not being passed on to the customers. Only 2 days ago did the price drop to $4/gal. Still high considering we could supply 100% of our domestic needs if we stopped exporting it for processing and then importing it back as gas. We are getting hosed at the pump.
Now Trudeau needs to man up and keep our Fighters in the War on ISIS.

Good Grief!
I just tanked up yesterday for $1.47 per gallon. You're paying nearly that much for a liter.
(No wonder your Government discourages gun ownership.)
