Re: December Greetings, Merry Christmas
And yes, I HAD to go onto Social Security.
My Police Pension was "Front Loaded".
That means that from the time that I retired from the Department, they paid me a higher amount that would match the total amount of my Police Retirement plus my $1,800.00 Social Security each month.
However, on the month that I was eligible for Social Security, my Police Retirement dropped by $1,800.00 per month, and so my total retirement remained the same from the time that I was 55 for the rest of my life.
Now, if I die prior to reaching about age 70, I win, because I will have gotten more out of the Police Pension System because of the "Front-Loaded" payments.
If I live much past age 70, I lose, because I will always receive my Police Pension at the lower rate for the rest of my life.
(I intend to "win".)
