In my Canadian opinion....

religious rights...gay rights....minority rights...women's rights...animal rights

Rights is an over used "card" that is played by groups to get their way (gay "rights"). We as Christians should not even use the word. When we accepted Chirst into our lives and become his followers then we lay down our "rights" as Christ did with his life (John 10:18). I'm not saying the we should let people walk all over us but there has to be a better balance. To me, the ability to own a gun should not be a right, but a privilege akin to driving, provided one meets the requirements set out by the governing authorities.

I was just reminded of a group here in Canada that have been fighting with the province of BC to allow them to wear a spaghetti strainer on their head when having their driver's licence picture taken. They argue that their freedom of religion to do so.

google search "church of the flying spaghetti monster"

no, really. These people need Jesus.

I'm a firm believer in that its a right not privilege  to keep and bear arms. When its a privilege it is too easy for a regime to take it away and never give you a way to exercise it. Read about the years leading up to 1776 revolt of the 13 colonies arms and ammo confiscation was being conducted by the British army. Once they lost arms to fight they knew they would never have freedom.

Even driving is a right under "right to travel" in any modern conveyance on public roads built by our servants. The reason both are so heavily regulated is out of the concern for public safety but nonetheless under US Constitution both are rights.
