Claymore, it is possible if another war comes the union and confederate landscape may be a bit different than 1860. California might invade ya.

Let me see where I misplaced my club and bearskins...
Btw called my insurance and my rate with the Lexus will increase by a whomping $8 over 6 months. I guess it'll be alpo and canned beans for me now on...
Seems like a miracle I can slide into this car for $400 down with a payment close to my saturn and ins premium is not moving up much.

See, now you're just being nasty about it! I can't help it that I at times have things to say. I also can't help it that you're off gallivanting around in your new fancy, EMP vulnerable car instead of hanging out here to discuss the important issues of life,... and all the other crap that we talk about.RRCmdrBennett wrote:I think Philip is trying to be the top poster for aug.

Yes, you got me I'm in with the cool kids and don't have time for my old forum geeks... Ha. Speaking of EMP (in an open talk topic) could one be so strong it screws up the electrical system of the human body??

Re: August Thread
Had to lay a guy off today... I hate that part of running a business. We've gotten pretty slow and he just wasn't a good ROI. He worked for me for a couple years, but really hasn't developed all that much in the trade. On top of that he isn't really self-motivated, so you have to constantly stay on him or he would just stand around.
Even with all of that, I hated to have to drop the ax on him. No matter how many people I've fired or laid off throughout the years, I still always hate it.
So that was my day... How are you guys?

Just got back from a minor league baseball game. Tied at 4-4 in the 11th inning. Didn't want to leave, but 10:30 is kinda late for my grandkids. They got 9 foul balls at the game!

People have to understand that the World doesn't owe them a living.
I was in Tupelo on Monday, and I went to Chik-fil-A for lunch.
I don't even like Chicken. I was raised on a dairy farm, and I always order Steak, Ground Beef, or Ribs.
But Chik-fil-A makes a decent sandwich, it's family-friendly, and the employees always fall all over each other to do a good job. When it's time to grab a sandwich, and there is a Chik-fil-A in the vicinity, I will now go to them more than half of the time because of their work ethic, quality of employees, and Christian Music playing in the restaurant. It cost me $8.00 for a premium sandwich, order of potato wedges, & a Coke.
If it was owned by a bunch of Liberals, I wouldn't walk across the street to go there.

Wish a Chick-Fil-A was somewhere in the Rockies. In-N-Out Burger is Christian-owned, and their soft drink cups always have a Scripture around the bottom. Only thing I miss about California. On the bright side, a Hobby Lobby is under construction 5 minutes down the road. They fought Obamacare in the courts and won.

Re: August Thread
Here in the Bible-Belt, their business has exploded.
Since the Chik-fil-A "Boycott", the Restaurant in the north side of Tupelo has, every time that I've been there, had at least 5 to 6 cars waiting to order at the drive-through, and they have 3 inside registers, and almost always have customers 2-to-3 deep (and they rotate a customer or car through in about 30 o 45 seconds).
What was their business like before the "boycott"?
I don't know. I never ate there prior to that.

Re: August Thread
It was always steady, buy I think it increased after they took a stand for their beliefs. Instead of bending to a perceived will of the public, they double downed on their convictions and are enjoying the fruits of their authenticity .
Maybe national should take a page out of Chick-fil-A's book instead of whatever other secular business they tried to pattern their model after. Or was that just Rick Warren? Well I guess that would be about the same thing.... Kind of like Burger King, "your way right away". Might be great for a secular restaurant, but it don't fly in the Kingdom. Jesus never watered down His message so the could be "seeker sensitive" and get more people into His ministry. He was instead authentic and faithful to the Father, and He had to get into boats to escape the crowd!
Maybe national should look at that too instead of Ricky's seeker sensitive trash. Get back to being authentic and faithful to the original thing that worked!!
It really is kind of funny, in a crazy kind of way. RR started to lose numbers as changes were made. So then they thought they'd make more changes to reinvigorate the program which drove more people away.... Think they see a pattern yet, or is it still the JB model that's the problem?

I am sorry to hear that you didn't get the position, Chris.
However, didn't you go to a more stable job, more hours, and are building a new house this year?
If one more thing went right, you'd have a Grand Slam!

Re: August Thread
I feel like I hit a grand slam this week. With only $400 down, a $7 increase in my payment compared to the Saturn, $1 increase in my ins premiums, and 7k miles less than my Saturn I got into the Lexus RX330 without a cosigner! Amazing to me how loaded a 2006 crossover can be. Comes with dual temp a/c, backup cam, awd, snow traction control, onboard navigation, bluetooth for sending/rec calls, powered rear hatch, full size spare, 6 disc changer, and a lot more.

I'm say way a drive'm till they die guy. I hear stories Lexus maintained can get 400k+ miles. I'm only at 125k. Last car I literally drove till it died.
This was $9999 car 9yrs old. A used Lexus doesn't have to break the bank especially if you have a decent trade in value. I out $400 down. Nothing wrong with trading up if its fiscally responsible for you.

Re: August Thread
Started my newest gig with the local police department. Moved on from "arresting" abandoned cars to contacting citizens who have outstanding warrants. Should be interesting. I suggested it a few months ago, after reading about the incident back east of how a routine stop ended in the death of a driver who didn't want to be taken in for a warrant/failure to pay child support. Cops don't need that kind of stress, and neither do citizens. So, we'll see if a friendly call can reduce the number of warrants out there.
