Good Job!

I hope that you take some good ideas back to your Outpost(s).

Post by Canadarangers June 16th 2015, 1:52 pm

What an amazing weekend we had. We had a total of 8 people taking the training, including 2 that came up from the States to do it and the 3 trainers, so 6 from my church. Tons of great ideas and lots of support from the NW district. Going to head down to Ranger Camp in WA in 2 weeks to see rangers in action.

God is so good.

Congratulations, Jeremy.

There WILL be times when you will wonder if the boys even notice anything about what you are putting out. In the end, it may be the Class Leader who excels in Christian Life, or it may be the kid who gives you a knot your stomach when you see him coming down the hallway.

We just celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the founding of our church, this last week-end. The original Pastor's Wife spoke to us about one boy in her Sunday School Class that about drove her nuts (and she made it no secret that her tolerance of him was getting short).

Today, that "wild kid" is a leader at the National Office of the Denomination.

Our Launch night is Sept 15. but we are starting to ramp up for registration this sunday. Leaders are trained. now we are just planning to do RK, DR and maybe AR to start. Now our pastors want to launch Girls ministries too. My wife is meeting with a bunch of women as I type this to figure out what they want to do for the girls.

It's exciting times at Christian Life Fellowship. Thumbs up

Hope you guys find a good girls ministry that fits your needs. It'll be good to do both if you have the resources to do so, IMO.

We only had men involved when we first started Rangers, so the girls ministry had to wait a bit. Sounds a little funny because usually women are more involved than men in most chirches, but our women still needed to be saved. Laughing
I'm just kidding. Our church is very small and at the time we started RR, it seemed that our wives were stretched out with previous commitments. One lady was working while pushing to finish her degree and take care of her family. My wife was very bogged down in a heavy duty pediatric cancer research position and taking care of our brood, etc.

Anyway after a year things had sorted themselves out with the ladies and they were able to launch American Heritage Girls at the church. It has really done the outpost well since we were able to get the girls going too. We don't do any curriculum together at all, but we do have opening ceremonies together and depending on the night for each of us, we at times come back together at the end for the game actuvity. Sometimes we play boys against the girls (nothing wrong with a little gender pride and competition at times Wink ) depending on the nature of the games, and sometimes we scramble everyone up together and do teams so that there's not too much of an "us against them" mentality at the outpost.

Keep us posted and I'll be praying for a great launch for you guys.

I taught at a Hunter-Safety Course last week-end in Alabama. Because I'm from Wisconsin and had been on a Ski Team in the Army, one of my subjects was Cold Weather Survival.

Later, one of the Game Wardens was talking about going to northern Canada, and that the temperature was -30 Fahrenheit (actual Temp; not wind-chill).

His guide told him that if he feels REALLY cold, the best thing to do is to stand perfectly straight and put his arms straight and tight against his body.

Makes it a lot easier, if the guide has to drag him out of the woods with a 4-wheeler.

That's funny. Reminds me of the position you're to take in the case of a nuclear attack when you're not in a fallout shelter. Sit on the floor with your legs spread, bend over as far as you can, and kiss your butt goodbye.
