Re: The changing face of the Gold Medal of Achievement
That does seem like a step in the right direction.
I have to say I am impressed with what our New National Commander is doing.

Does sound better.
Strods, these stars for achieving 3-4 high group medals are they replacing the buffaloes or in addition to buffaloes as additional honors? In my time stars pinned into the GMA ribbon bar denoted gold and silver buffalo was earned. Then the buffaloes themselves were pinned vertically on the class A medal ribbon.
Chris we were not the only voices. Finally they listened...

Re: The changing face of the Gold Medal of Achievement
While not 100%, I believe they are replacing them for the GMA. I believe the Buffalos are still in play for the Eagle, Adventure Gold, and E3
GMA is a little separated from the Advancement trail now, due to the dual options of earning them, and the capstone project needed

Re: The changing face of the Gold Medal of Achievement
How do you feel about the GMA including the RK GTA medal as a second high medal? I would honestly view a GMA with GTA as lil less than a GMA with a combo of GEA ARG or E3.

Re: The changing face of the Gold Medal of Achievement
Are you referring to the Honor GMA thing?
Or are you asking my if I thing RK GTA should be granted one of the awards considered for GMA? If you are, I can't say as I would. I feel that one of the things the GMA should show is maturity, and while I am aware that anything is possible, not all things are probable. The odds of a truly mature Discover Graduate are far lower than an AR or ER grand, and we know how mature some of them can be.

NO
the Buffalo's are worn on advancement medals. The GMA is no longer an advancement medal.
Adventure Rangers can still earn the buffalo, but it will be worn on their Adventure Gold Medal.
The GMA is now an "Honor" awarded to those who earn the top advancement medal in multiple age groups (+ capstone)
GMA= Earn top medal in any 2 age groups+ capstone
GMA with Merit= Earn top medal in any 3 age groups+ capstone
GMA with Honors= Earn top medal in all 4 age groups+ capstone
You really need to watch that power point Dan.
to make it easy for you.....Here is a link to the power point, Strods posted in his original post
Role of the GMA
Thanks Strods for for finding this info for us!
