Our new house
Some of you know, for the rest. We have been working with Habitat for Humanity to get a house. It is progressing nicely.
The lot where our house will stand has been procured. here are a couple of pics. I will continue to update this thread as construction progresses (begins spring 2015)
We put up this sign this morning.

Our lot is 80' X 210' it extends past the brush at the back of the pic.
The house on the left is the 2014 Habitat house.
there are a lot of wild turkeys in the nearby woodlot & some deer as well. But it is inside the city limits so no hunting.

Re: Our new house
Congrats Chris and Christy. I have helped build one of these homes as well. It's a good program that works well. You are blessed and will soon have a home of your own.
It's good to hear the blessings coming your way.
Merry Christmas!

Re: Our new house
Awesome! Glad to hear about this. I bet the kids are all kinds of excited. Nothing like the prospect of a great play area!

Re: Our new house
No hunting, or no discharge of firearms within city limits? If it's the latter, then maybe a bow could be in your future.

Re: Our new house
At least here in my city a bow is also prohibited along with pellett/bb guns. If its quiet I didn't see anything...

Re: Our new house
Our driveway is in!
We went by the lot yesterday & saw that they had installed the culvert & a dirt driveway, so they have a way to get equipment on to the site as soon as spring hits.
I will get over there & snap a pic soon

Re: Our new house
Ya know I think Mark is jealous of our nippy weather haha!
Wife wants to go to TN next year or two. I wouldn't mind the better weather and change of scenery. I have a lead on a possible good union job that pays well. We'll see.

Re: Our new house
Being part of the frozen chosen... not for me. Our winters are cold enough and nothing compared to what you guys experience. I like going outside in February...but not if I lived up by you guys. Ha!
figured you guys houses had 2x8 walls and 2x 10 ceiling joists for insulation purposes.
Enjoy it paradise is on it's way when the Father makes the call!

Re: Our new house
Footings & walls are poured, already?
Nice touch, with that additional "Load Bearing Footing" poured through the midpoint of the foundation.
Remember where that footing is (mark on the walls where the center of the footing is. A little dab of yellow spray paint works well, but don't put it too low, as you are going to lose 4" when they pour the floor.) That way, if you ever want to put a concrete block wall in the basement, you can do it without stressing your floor.
