Big changes come to our Outpost Empty Big changes come to our Outpost

Just as we come into summer our Outpost has undergone some big changes.   RR

We lost most of our Rangers, due to the recent "situation" at our church.  Currently have only my own 2 kids, who are Discovery Rangers, about to turn Adventure Rangers at the end of the summer.

But we are also gaining some new Rangers. Cool Our Pastors daughter & son in law have just moved to the area & their 2 boys (Ranger Kid age) will be joining us next week.

That leaves us in need of a Ranger Kids leader. It was looking like it might be me. what Big changes come to our Outpost 2410941
I gave Christi the choice. she could return to RK or lead DR with our 2 kids (who she home-schools & is with all day)

So, after  3 years in Adventure Rangers, my dear wife is heading back to Ranger Kids.  Christi---> Big changes come to our Outpost 2575533004       I was willing to do RK, but not exactly eager  Laughing

Plus this last Sunday, kids church began sharing our main Ranger room. I heard from the Kids church leader (a former Ranger leader) 3 of the kids who only came on Sundays, saw our Ranger posters & were asking a lot of questions & wanting to start coming to Rangers. So we could gain 1-3 more. Cool

We are having a "Shrinking Outpost" Situation at our Church, also.

The Rangers were asked to post the flags for the Church Color Guard on Sunday.  We have done it about 7 or 8 times before, so I told the Events Coordinator, "No problem".  I'm down to only a few Rangers, but I figured that we would do the rehearsal tonight, I would have my Senior Adventure Ranger be in charge, and the other guy(s) could assist.  We need at least 2: one for the U.S. Flag, and one for the Christian Flag.

It winds up that my Senior Ranger went with the Youth Group "Drama Team" tonight, and he said that he is not available Sunday Morning (Drama Team).

And the ONLY kid who came tonight is they guy, whose mother told me that he is diagnosed with AD/HD.

Our Patrol Yell is, "Rangers Lead the Way!"

Our Patrol Motto is, "Adapt and Overcome!"

So:

I could get mad, call the Event Coordinator, and tell her that we cannot do it (my initial first-choice).

or

I could put our Patrol Motto into Effect, rehearse posting the flags with my 1 Ranger and call another member of the Outpost who didn't come tonight, because he is studying for exams, and currently working on making Eagle Scout.  I can pull him out of Sunday School about 20 minutes early to get into Uniform and rehearse being the Color Guard Commander.

If he can make it, we should be OK with a 2-man Color Guard.

If not.....

....it will be Commander Clay and Ricochet Rabbit.

Adapt and Overcome

For some reason, I visualized a rabbit ricocheting off a clay pigeon. Wink

Update
Well it has been an interesting change so far. Working with only 2 Rangers gives me a lot more time to work with them & work on things they want to do. Both are 1 merit away from Gold Eagle & 1 merit away from Bronze Buffalo so we are working on those merits.

Our 2 new Ranger Kids have been spotty in attendance due to illness going through the family. So Christi hasn't had to do too much RK yet.
