What happened to Ben Picton?

Post by ccm2361 on June 15th 2014, 10:00 pm

I was just on the National website & noticed that Ben Picton (national Communications Coordinator) is no longer listed on the staff page. Is he another economic casualty?

He moved over to another GPH wing. Different ministry. He is a neat young man.

Rangers is a wing of GPH? I know, I know. But there might be more truth to that than we'd like.  Shocked

Yes they moved from the smaller corner rock building to the 3rd floor (I think) they are in the same building as GPH. I used to visit when Marriot was in charge.

RRI is only about 3 miles north from my house. They are right next to Lamberts (home of the thrown rolls)

I could snap some pictures if you guys want me to.

I don't know if you can distinguish between GPH and the AG. They are interlinked and crossbraced and interwoven and backwards wired and 2 separate inities... Kind of like a Star Trek Alien hybrid thing. One tells the other one what they expect from the other... like. We need you to rewrite your entire program so we can print the stuff to well you know sell stuff make a profit... By big jets and cool stuff like that.

Sometimes the market driven life dictates to the faith based life and gives them a purpose driven life. Thus..we have what we have.

affraid .... If was an employee of GPH..you didn't hear it from me..GRIN!

They slice and dice folks like fresh meat on a chopping block around here. I saw Evangel University can 2 men that had worked over 15 to 25 years and just walked in one day and said..your services are no longer needed. Money rules if it's in their interest to make it so.

Lots of friends are employed by them both. No easy answers...some ways it's better to have control on who is printing your stuff and other ways it's better to not have that. I don't have the answer for it. Just go rewrite someone elses program and leave Rangers alone!

When I think about the free enterprise system and the market place, I know how businesses need to respond to their clientele's wants, and sometimes to anticipate their future needs. That's how a business thrives and grows. But when they aren't listening to their customers, they can make mistakes and end up losing market share. At a certain point, the board of directors gets alarmed and demands change. (I'm thinking of the "new" Coke fiasco and how they went back to the traditional Coke formula.) In our case, it appears that national decided to give up on its original customer base and started to market their product to new customers, i.e., non-AG denominations.

I think that Mark hit on it exactly.

If you can set up an outpost, and it costs $1,500.00 in materials, you can maintain it for $300.00 or $400.00 per year (just figuring classroom and administrative materials to run the program; before you get out on camping & field trips; but Headquarters isn't going to make anything on that at Local Level).

So (taking an average) operating for 7 years would cost $1,500.00 plus ($350 x 7 = $2,450) Total $3,950.00.

But:

If you can make the outposts have to completely get different startup materials, posters, leadership manuals, etc. every 7 years, that takes the cost from $3,950.00 every 7 years up to $5,450.00.

And it all flows up to National HQ (and their minions).

So I'm expected to chime when there's an obvious Trek reference. I think Chris or Strods maybe higher on the Trekkie scale. Chris can give ya names of guest characters that I can't recall. Though I do enjoy the entire franchise the The old Show is the best.
