That's, generally, a correct rule of thumb; especially for rimfires.

But my Marlin experiences "fail to eject" malfunctions with high velocity ammunition; especially CCI Blazers.

So in the "fail to eject" the rifle cycles, picks up the next round, and I have both the spent brass and the new round jamming up the bolt.

Could be that there is still excessive chamber pressure on extraction (dragging on the brass); could be that the bolt is being kicked back too fast, and causing the extractor or ejector to malfunction; could be something else.

The simple cure is to feed it Winchester Dynapoint ammunition. I should have enough ammunition on hand to eradicate a couple thousand armadillos.

Today, I received an email from our Section Cmdr informing us a church is transitioning from BSA to Royal Rangers.

There's a new group being formed called "On My Honor" (or something like that) that is supposed to be an "old school" BSAish organization. It's supposed to be a carbon copy of the infrastructure without the liberal garbage that has entered BSA. A guy I know is looking at that because everything that the boys had earned would match up exactly and they could continue.

Will the be sued by BSA? Unless changing names of levels and stuff is enough to get around trandemarks.

You can't Trademark a common name "Rope Craft, Fire Craft, Government".

They can Trademark the Written Materials.

The new organization can just re-write the requirements, and give credit for "Past Equivalent Training".

I know merit titles can't be they are common. Ranks like Star, tenderfoot, Eagle Scout might need to be different.

Re: June Thread

Post by Phillip Gross on June 11th 2013, 11:24 pm

I almost didn't go to work today because my back is acting up and I thought about going to the chiropractor and just sending my guy out to a job by himself. I then realized that my bone cracker is closed on Tuesdays, so I'd have to go tomorrow and would have to endure the pain until Wednesday. As I got dressed I felt impressed to wear one of my RR T-shirts. I thought that maybe the Lord would bring someone in my path to share something about Rangers so I threw it on and went to work.

We were working out at Shaw Air Force base in the munitions area where they mess with all the missiles and bombs that they load on the F-16s so we had to have escorts (guards) with us at all times. I kept wondering if someone would ask about RR, but nobody did. I talked with all of our escorts (they switch out every 1-2 hrs.) as I usually do. Asking them typical things like how long they've been in, where they're from, etc.

The last escort was a pretty ripped airmen that told me he was a personal trainer when not on duty. I also found out that he and his new wife were just weeks away from having their first baby. Typical story of today's young people marrying before the baby comes...

After talking to this young man for quite a while he paused for a minute and then asked, "so are you a Royal Ranger leader?" I said I was the Sr Commander and asked if he'd ever been in Royal Rangers. You know what? He had... Very Happy We went on to have a deeper conversation about the things of God and general church discussion.

He revealed that he had been in RR for several years and was even on the praise and worship team when he was in high school. At some point he had drifted away from church, but realized that he needs to get back involved because of his daughter coming. I didn't point any fingers at his lifestyle, but rather just had a good conversation with him and encouraged him to continue on his journey back to the Lord.

Just think if I hadn't listened and obeyed that "still small voice" this morning when I was getting dressed! I most likely would've missed out on that divine appointment. God is so GOOD!!

His name is Micheal. Keep him in your prayers if you will.

I went back to Church when our first child was about 3 years old. My belief was, whether you are a serious Christian or not, the basic guidance from Church for a moral life is invaluable.

So the Wife and I took our boy to Church, and within 18 months, I became a Born-Again Christian going to a Pentecostal Church.

That wasn't my plan.

My shop got broken into... AGAIN.  I had ADT installed in the main building after I got robbed the first time. This time they broke into the 40' steel shipping container that I had stuff stored in. From my perspective the big (single) lock I had on it would be sufficient to keep people out, but they just broke the whole latch off and went in. I should've pulled some wire out to it and put some ADT sensors in it, but I was just too naive to think that someone would use enough force to break into it. I guess I'm just a stupid honest person who looks at life through honest eyes....

Anyone know what the law is regarding booby traps? I would assume that you can't go to the extreme of using something like a claymore pointed at the doorway, but what about something less lethal?
