Re: Windows 8
Everybody pray for me. My laptop went to that big junk heap in the sky and I had to get a new one. Now I have to learn to operate windows 8. Oh boy...

Re: Windows 8
I'm thinking of having my Pastor pray over my computer, and to command the Windows 8 out of it.

Re: Windows 8
I have found several hacks to ease the pain of Win8. One option folks is to buy a full version copy of Win7 or Vista and reformat the drive and install older version.

How much do those cost to buy? I've always just used what was on the computer.

Re: Windows 8
Start8 costs $4.99.
I am generally hesitant to purchase any programs over the Net, but the technician at Best Buy said that Stardock is a large reputable company, and that you can trust their software.
They will offer you the SUPER-DOOPER upgrade for $49.99, but it's not needed.
Take a look at their site. It's
http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/
I haven't installed it on mine, yet. But as soon as I take the computer out of the box, it will be the first thing that I put on the computer.

Windows 8
Excellen program I like it. I agree the super upgrade features aren't needed. Previous windows versions always gave option to revert to classic view. Windows 8 should have done the same.

That's what I was told by the technician at Best Buy, also.
Pay $5.00, and it's yours to use.

Re: Windows 8
Finally had it with the old desktop a few weeks ago, but knew I didn't want Windows 8. Wasn't hard to find a brand new one with Windows 7. Very happy with the faster/more powerful computer...and I didn't have to get "Rosetta Stone" to learn a new screen language.

Re: Windows 8
Ha! I have mastered the Windows 8. Yup just had to stick with it until the light came on. The Microsoft Surface 2 has windows 8.1 so I have been getting used to it. It's about the same with the additon of apps and touch screen stuff. I pretty much just use the windows desktop. There are a bunch of apps out there but I haven't put much into them yet. Just wanted to get my stuff working.
It's pretty neat. The power of a high end desktop in a tablet wth a keyboard. USB 3.0 is nice and fast. It renders videos fast and I am getting it setup to go to it with a docking station for convience. I would venture to say it's twice as fast as my laptop of 4 years ago.
I watched about a dozen reviews on it and found the in and out on windows 8.1 I am glad I got it all but one of my programs runs on it and that one is 5 years old. Time for a upgrade. Mainly the 64 bit thing. It's fast.

Does the new Windows tablet replace laptops and desktops altogether?
