The Big Bat Cave Campout is a go!
I posted this on or Missouri lists. I did have a leader and 2 boys drive down 11 hours to camp over night in the bat cave with us... you guys are welcome as well.
Woo whoo Rangers! The Big Bat Cave Campout is scheduled for
Jan 31st, Feb 1st, 2014.
First 50 folks that email and reserve a site in the cave will get first pick for the inner warm chambers.
We can camp more out by the entrance but it's COLD OUT THERE! That is where I sleep but I am geared for it. Most are not.
Please let me know if you plan on attending and the approx. number. The cave has limited resources so we need a approx. head count.
A group will be going down early on Friday to cut wood and rappel and setup some stuff. I hope you can come down early and help.
Blessings.

Sleeping with bears and mountain lions are one thing. But bats? Sucking the life out of you? I just got back from donating a pint at the Red Cross. At least they smile while it drips out of you.

That is so funny. I hear that more often than anything else. GRIN! (The bats are fruit bats. They eat bugs and they are hibernating so a sleeping bat really poses no threat..except in your nitemares)..GRIN!
Next one I hear ... I ain't sleeping in no bat guano. GRIN!. Your kissing your wife with bat guano on her eyebrows.. GRIN! They pretty much roost in the same spot so there are piles of bat poop..but I don't sleep on that part. EVen though its nice and spongie and better than rocks... I use my backpacking cot...luxary lite.

Re: The Big Bat Cave Campout is a go!
2 weeks out and I have 65 booked. Them thar nuts don't even know what there about to get themselves in for... ever been dive bombed by a bat flapping at 60 mph. It's a site to behold. GRIN! Big foot siteing about a mile from the cave. Rumor has it he likes caves. GRIN! or Were expecting a earthquake but I am sure we will be ok in this cave but stay away from that one part that fell in a few years back....
That ought to keep them up wondering a few nights. GRIN! I generally only lay it on thick about 3 miles out from the cave. They get quiet for a few minutes...
I like to send the first guys in and tell them to come back and tell me if they find anything or at least just scream like a girl so I can hear you and warn others.
GRIN!
In the real world. Nice cool basement with personality and a few critters that sleep through it all.

Re: The Big Bat Cave Campout is a go!
I only saw one bat this year. He was hanging above me off to the left about 30" away. Nice little guy.
It was great fun. Even had some National Staff there this year. It's a hooten toooten good time.
