February Greetings

Post by RRCmdrBennett on February 1st 2014, 8:19 pm

New month new topic.

Today, I stopped over at the Lorain County Sheriff's office to pick up ccw permit applications for a class on March 15. The NRA instructor is only charging $45 for a group of 20 or more. We have 19 so far shouldn't be a problem getting one more for that price.   I plan to retake it since its so cheap to get range time with an instructor.

Looks like they had good luck.

Before church I took a fall and bruised my left rib cage, scraped skin off my elbow, and wrenched my shoulder.

My mother broke her shoulder slipping on ice 3 weeks ago. Healing nicely without surgery. Praying you get over your injury quickly.

On the other hand, it's going to take the Broncos a lot longer. I've never seen a great team get so badly outplayed, outcoached, out-everything. If the Seattle GM can hold his players together, the Seahawks could have a dynasty run.

My theory is the winners and losers are predetermined.

I once slipped on ice back in MD when I was younger and landed back on my palm of my hand. I fractured elbow and tore both ligaments.

Personally, I think that God has let folks like Bruce & myself live through situations that we should not have... was because He thinks that we are fun to watch.

I couldn't even get up to Wisconsin for a funeral.

The weather report showed that, of the 850 mile trip, about 400 miles of that would have been through an active snow storm, and about 200 miles of that being on freezing rain.

Re: February Greetings

Post by Claymore on February 5th 2014, 10:21 pm

Dan, I was thinking of you being in the swath of that storm.

Today, I fished through my firewood, and picked out the last of the seasoned wood. So what I burn today & tomorrow will be the end of the year-long dried stuff.

Last year, the Gas Man erroneously filled the 150 gallon propane tank at our old/abandoned house, and stated that he didn't have the equipment to reclaim it back to the truck. He sold it to me at about $0.25 cents per gallon under retail for his mistake.

So this week, I shut off all of the gas to the old house, disconnected the fittings, put a chain on the tank and used my tractor to lift it onto my trailer. Then moved it to the new house & reversed the order and placed the tank next to the 250-Gallon tank for the new house (currently showing to be 40% full).

Out with the wrench, shipping plug, pipe-dope, & about 15 minutes work, and I am now feeding the central furnace with another $500.00 worth of propane.

Rangers do lead the way...  Good job!  Before Jan 4, 2013 I might have trucked my way through this. I learned even on a day with "clear" roads it can be dangerous. I've been off past 3 days. Mon is my regular day off but called out Tues and Wed cause of my left shoulder and upper arm isn't working so good after my fall Sun night.

All-time low during my 10 years in Montana. My thermometer reads -32 degrees. Woo hoo! (Thank you, Al Gore. If you hadn't awakened us, it might've gone to -33.)

OK.

How is -32 luckier than +20?

Sarcasm folks...

Anyway, this morning it was -5 degrees. I was luckier than Chris but not as lucky as Joecool...

Went back to work today after 3 days off. Last two days were sick days. Side was tight early in the day and The arm I had some pain sporadically whenever I raised it too high or over reached for something. I was considering calling off today since 3 days consecutive is 1 point and doesn't require a Doctor to fill out FMLA papers. My work ethic gives me a guilt trip even though anytime I call off its legit. I'm off tomorrow so I can rest it some more.

Despite my injury I got a spur in my butt to get my stack-on cabinet bolted to the wall. I assume like the donkey I am that it would be a snap. The screws were octogon shaped so I had to go digging the tool chest for a 7/16 socket and wrench. Due to the trim work I couldn't mount it flush to the wall. I had to go digging for some boards to offset the space between cabinet and wall. I screwed through the boards and into the wall. Since the wall is plywood it should be very secure.

Which is good cause I live directly behind a middle school and down the block from a high school. Its likely we'll not be hit in the day my father in-law and wife are usually home all day. We live in a small town but you never know; better safe than sorry.

God is good!
after 5 years of trying... I have a new job! cheers

Tuesday afternoon I interviewed with Cherry Capital foods for a full time driver position.

This morning they called to offer me the job!

only downside is its 25 miles each way. (instead of a mile & a half)

so now I need to find a small high mpg car
