A University to Watch Empty A University to Watch

Know anybody who is graduating from high school this year? And is worried about college debt? And is concerned that they may not get a well-paying job after getting the degree?

You might want to look at Corban University, a Christian institution in NW Oregon. They recently announced "The Corban Promise." In a nutshell, if you earn a degree from them, and your new job earns under $37,000, you will qualify for loan repayment assistance. If your job earns under $20,000, you'll get 100% reimbursement of your loans.

I'm sure that students and their parents will have to look at the fine print, but what a generous offer in these troubling times. Here's a short quote from a student..."The Corban Promise gave me the confidence to pursue ministry."

A University to Watch Empty Re: A University to Watch

During the past Generation, I think that we have seen examples of young people with College Degrees that offer much less value to employers. Kids take a Boat-Load of Psychology, Philosophy, & Liberal Arts Courses, learn to be "Free Thinkers", but offer little else.

Maybe I am lucky that I was an English Major & got hired on as a Cop. Fortunately, a VERY high percentage of my time was writing Non-Fiction Stories for presentation at the District Attorney's Office.

There are some universities that demand Performance and Excellence (Harvard, Regent, Liberty, M.I.T., etc) and they are recognized as such.

However,..............

Notice that these colleges (although some may be "Progressive") are not known for churning out graduates who are Tape Recorders playing back Leftist Philosophical Dribble.

If you were an employer, what would you be expecting for your money?

My local Oberlin college is such a college as you mentioned being one of "free thinkers"!  Their free thinking is what gives us real residents higher taxes when they vote on issues that don't affect them.

I guess there are exceptions to certain universities demanding excellence...can you Say Barry Soetoro?
