I should ask Disney is it ok for hetero males to scoutmaster girl scout?  If males aren't permitted or accepted as leaders in GSA why gay males in BSA?

Culture Rot - Page 3 Empty Re: Culture Rot

Post by joecool March 19th 2014, 12:21 pm

Interesting news from the Westboro Baptist Church. That's the group that pickets funerals of service members, saying that it's God's judgment against a nation that favors gay rights. Understandably, this "congregation" doesn't have many fans, on the right or the left. Members of the church are predominantly from one family, and there are a lot of lawyers in it. I had always assumed their shtick was an attempt to make money through multiple lawsuits.

Well, it turns out that they have excommunicated their patriarch. Why? They apparently believe that any death is God's judgment against sin, and old Fred Phelps is on his death bed. Yes, the wages of sin is death. But they seem to have missed the rest of the New Testament.

Gay groups are a little torn over this news. Many feel that Fred was the best thing that ever happened to them, accelerating the turn towards gay marriage, etc. They could be right.

The two Major Commandments of Jesus were, "Love God" and "Love Your Neighbor".

It doesn't mean that you should condone or ignore sin, but it does no good to kick others when they are grieving (other than to make yourself feel righteous and powerful).

For some reason, some "religious" people (and plenty of non-religious, like the militant gay movement) take joy in hurting those with whom they disagree. From watching the world news, Muslims, Buddhists, and Hindus are worse than Christians. The "Christians" are just closer to home, so we see them more often.

Speaking of gays has anyone seen the new teddygrams ad spot?  Shows a few gay families throught its ad. Very subtle. I didn't notice it till my mother inlaw pointed it out

Been on the road for a few days. A big fire was started and then put out, but it's still smoldering. Hate to put this one in "Culture Rot", but if the shoe fits...

I'm talking about the World Vision thing that flared up. A widely-respected Christian organization, out of the blue, says that they have spent years praying about it...and decided to employ Christian married homosexuals. Kind of an oxy-moron, huh? Less than two days later, they backtrack and rescind their decision. The blowback was apparently pretty intense.

Probably realized they were going to lose a LOT of financial support. Why did they do it in the first place? Was it because 18 percent of their annual budget comes from the federal gov't, and they didn't want to lose it (like the Boy Scouts)? In any event, their leadership made some bad calls. It'll take awhile to recover trust.

Well, they would just lose the 82% from Christians, and keep the 18% from Obama.

That is a fine example of the great whore and harlot daughters. A Christian churh or organization selling herself out for $ from the government.

Culture Rot - Page 3 Empty Re: Culture Rot

Post by joecool March 28th 2014, 10:04 am

Many, many years ago I came across an opportunity. I did a lot of research and then contacted the national RR office. They were likewise excited and I sent everything to them. The military supports "Nationally Recognized Youth Programs" with access to their vast surplus system. The Boy Scouts were one of the few on the list. All RR needed was an elected Congressman to sponsor us, and Senator Ashcroft of Missouri was an AG member. Seemed like a no-brainer.

I got a courtesy e-mail a few months later, saying that RR declined the opportunity.
I was disappointed to say the least. But in hindsight, it was a wise decision. If you have your hands in the federal pocket, they will try to control you.

There was a guy from Northwest area that told JB our founder be great to have access to those boats in gov surplus. JB declined it in the 1960s as well for the reason of not getting too entangled with politics.

Wisdom comes with age and experience. Solomon aside, there really aren't any shortcuts, with the possible exception of being able to learn from other people's mistakes. But that's a rare gift. We seem to prefer making our own mistakes, thank you.

I like those! The fourth quote pretty much sums up my life mentality, but I always say it differently. "Shoot for the stars. If you only hit the moon you're still doing great!" This mentality most likely causes people to view me as a failure at times (at least I imagine it does), because I rarely attain the goals that I express. But when I step back I realize that I do a lot more than most people. That's honestly not tooting my horn because I know that anything good that I have ultimately comes from the Father and I could have nothing without Him, but I also see that people could be in better positions in life if they were more willing to jump. Yes, you may fail, but if you never try I guarantee you'll NEVER get there.

One side effect of this life mentality is the ability to learn how to eat crow! Laughing I've eaten plenty in my life and now know to prepare it quite well. Wink

Two items of note today:
1) a World Vision board member resigned, citing the organization's decision to return to Biblical principles as the reason for quitting. Love the sin, love the sinner. (This isn't over yet; the feds will pull their $180 million in ____ days.)

2) the CEO of Mozilla also resigned, saying he's sorry that his personal $1000 donation to a traditional marriage proposition hurt others' feelings. Hates the sin, so accuse him of hating the sinner. (This isn't over, either; watch for more
"outings".)

Supporting gay "rights" is quickly turning into the litmus test that determines whether your face or voice will be allowed in the public arena. Thank you Democrats, public schools, liberated pastors, and activist judges for laying the groundwork.

All of it done in many subtle slow steps.

Life Liberty Pursuit of happiness and or bill of rights have become:

Censorship of free speech
Censoring religious expression
Loss of intrinsic right to open carry and need permit to exercise carry rights without constant harassment
Right to travel is now privilege with forced registration and licensing of private drivers.

He's definitely making worse a lot quicker. Most of this has been happening gradually since our founding. The civil war and invention of income tax helped it pick up speed.

According to online data held by the dating website ChristianMingle.com, 63% say that they do/would engage in premarital sex. It has been given the name "sexual atheism." In other words, 63% believe that God has nothing to say to them on that issue. (I wonder how many CEOs and stockholders are whooping it up?)

Our culture has made them like that. But not quite like Flip Wilson's plea, "The devil made me do it!" Everyone has a choice, but the relentless barrage of SEX from every direction, including public schools, rots their soul. Remember the parable of the rich young man? He sadly walked away because he couldn't bear to give away his riches to inherit the kingdom of God. How can we even get today's generation to realize that they should at least feel that same sadness?
